We are Dutch Circular Design, a foundation that is actually a new Dutch design movement. We stimulate designers to let waste determine the aesthetics of their products. Because this is the only way people can see and believe for themselves that the circular economy is happening around them, and thus encourage them to act on it. And that’s how we want to create a better and more beautiful world together.
EXHIBITION
DUTCH DESIGN WEEK 2024
A NEW COLLABORATION
From 19-27 October 2024 we will be at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven in the Klokgebouw, stand number 1.09. It has become a special collaboration with students from the HMC and Verpackt and Statiegeld Nederland. Because we have received recycled materials from the latter to show that you can make beautiful design from them that tells its own story.
The participating designers are:
No Waste Chair | VivErdie | WasteCraft | Demi van Diepen | Primo Arets
THE DCD FOUNDATION
The Dutch Circular Design foundation constantly creates new collaborations with likeminded designers that are fascinated by turning waste into design for this is a missing link in the Circular Economy. To promote their work the foundation helps organize and realize exhibitions national and international.

No Waste Chair – Storytelling concept
The No Waste Chair has everything it takes to become a design icon. For the chair, high-quality fashion items, disposable face masks, cosmetics and other discarded products are used to visualize different aspects of the unpleasant waste problem.
Planq – Furniture design
Planq is a Dutch sustainable furniture brand, bridging the gap between contemporary design and environmental consciousness. With innovative materials, such as recycled textiles and bio-based resources we design interior products for a better tomorrow.
Ties de Vos – Furniture design
Ties de Vos a 21-year-young furniture maker located in the city of Utrecht, Netherlands. His primary focus is on the future of design. As sustainability continues to gain importance in our daily lives, it has become the central theme of designing the furniture of the future
Lisanne Kamphuis – Panels
Lisanne’s design studio SUSTAIGN is also a small manufacturinghouse that creates unique handmade, super-sized panels to provide customised solutions for retail, architecture, interiors and product design, among others.
Sjer – Bags
SJER creates bags from production and cutting waste from the interior and textile industry. Founder Demi van Diepen, driven by her passion for fashion, deliberately works only with leftover materials.
Primo Arets – Furniture design
As a maker, new ideas emerge through the act of creation. In my projects, I focus on using waste materials, not only because I believe it’s crucial for sustainability, but also because there’s an abundance of beautiful, reusable resources already available.
“With our foundation we actively promote the Circular economy with design products in which waste remains visible as a design quality. These products are not only distinctive in their appearance, but also designed to be commercially successful, so they can scale up and become sustainable replacements for environmentally harmful counterparts. We want our mission of hope to have global reach, and our inspiration to transcend current design boundaries.”

THE MAGICAL CUPBOARD FOR AVR
This fantastic project was commissioned by AVR and in collaboration with the children of the Petje Af Foundation. The idea of the cupboard is that adults see a cupboard that matches AVR’s identity with a cheerful rainbow palette. They only see the shelves from above. Children also see the bottom of the shelves because they are smaller. Through their different perspective they see the toys that seem to magically float through the cupboard.
